March to May brings the long rains. The park turns green and mountain views can be obscured by cloud, though birdlife flourishes and rates are often lower.

Travel Tips

Early mornings offer the clearest views of Kilimanjaro, before clouds typically build later in the day, so plan game drives accordingly.

Dust can be significant during the dry season, so pack a scarf or buff, and bring binoculars and a camera with a zoom lens for distant mountain and wildlife shots.
